About the book
Dearest Light, explores and examines all that, and asks the darkest of questions, buried six feet under our hearts, and leaves us with no answers. The poems in the book, Dearest Light, give us snapshots, glimpses of a strange, foreign land, that we call our heart, falling apart, as the omnipresent, omnipotent force we call love, that we worship, never seems to answer our prayers. In his third book of (English) poems, Md. Fakrul Islam Chowdhury has written a fairy tale gone wrong, about what happens when happily ever after turns into a nightmare. Loosely based on a true (horror) love story, Dearest Light, follows a fictionalized journey of lovers taking wrong turns, betting their lives on a wrong horse, falling for the wrong ones, yet, refusing to move on, from the oblivion, the the void, the blackhole that keeps holding them back. From staring at the abyss, without a blink, that stares back. Each poem tells a sad tale, of letting oneself go in order to hold on, of falling apart in order to rise up, of the middle finger pointed at the entire universe, of moving on only to return. Dearest Light is as much a book of love as it is of dark.
