About the book
Indian English Bureaucracy Fiction analyses a relatively unexplored area of Indian English Bureaucracy Fiction. It is an enquiry into the relevance and urgency of a bureaucratic system comprising 'corrupt' and 'courtier' bureaucrats and administrators controlled by the politicians, as seen through the lens of introspection by the authors- Anurag Mathur, Vipul Mitra, Amitabh Bagchi and Niyaz Khan in their novels Making the Minister Smile (1996), Pyramid of Virgin Dreams (2011), The Householder (2012) and Confessions at a Black Grave (2012) respectively. The Volume discusses that the bureaucracy novels are the honest reflections about the working of Indian administrative system except that of Niyaz Khan who emerges as a propagandist unduly spreading the rumour that Muslims are being discriminated against in every sphere of administration and elsewhere. The authors have very succinctly brought out that these novels are the retellings about as to how 'Babudom' runs the country.
