Intimate Encounters

Intimate Encounters is a collection of love poems originally written in Odia over a period of one thousand years i.e from the 9 th century A.D. to the 19 th century A.D. It starts with Charyapadas written by Buddhist saint poets like Kanhupa, Sabaripa and includes compositions of poets like Sarala Dasa, Balaram Dasa, Jagannatha Dasa, Arjuna Dasa of the ancient period and Upendra Bhanja, Dinakrushna, Abhimanyu, Baladeva, Gopalkrushna, Banamali and others of the medieval period. Anchored in the ancient and medieval cultural life in Odisha, these poems make one aware of human relationship in its most passionate and intimate forms that evolved over a period of one thousand years as a part of Odia poetic tradition.
