Multilayered Literary Innovations

The present critical anthology analyses stylistic characteristic of discourse in Indian English fiction with special reference to Sahitya Akademi Award-winning novels in English. These novels are: R.K. Narayan’s The Guide, Raja Rao’s The Serpent and the Rope, Chaman Nahal’s Azadi, Anita Desai’s Fire on the Mountain, Rama Mehta’s Inside the Haveli, Arun Joshi’s The Last Labyrinth, Nayantara Sahgal’s Rich Like Us, Amitav Ghosh’s The Shadow Lines, Shashi Deshpande’s That Long Silence, Rupa Bajwa’s The Sari Shop and Esther David’s The Book of Rachel. The book bears the semblance of critical and investigative sophistication and erudition. The inclusion of three interviews with Sahitya Akademi Award-winning-novelists in English brings a fresh fervour, flavour and multiplicity to this high profile and academic anthology. About the Editors Dr. Vivekanand Jha is a translator, editor and award-winning poet from India. He has a Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Certificate in Computer Hardware and Networking, MA and PhD in English. He is a contributing poet to Wavelengths– 2011 Savant Anthology of Poetry (USA) which won first place in the 2011 London Book Festival. He has been Poetry Contest Winner for the poem “Hands Heave to Harm and Hamper” conducted by Beginners, a documentary, graphic, nonfiction book series (USA). Dr. Rajnish Mishra is Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Science and Humanities, IMS Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. His areas of specialization are ELT methodologies, literary theory and criticism, and creative writing. He has BSc & MSc in Agriculture and Diploma in Spanish and French from Banaras Hindu University (BHU). He has MA in English Literature and was awarded PhD on the topic A Critical Analysis of Villains in Shakespeare’s Tragedies.
