About the book
This book, Myth, Indian Mythology and Popular Fiction, emerges from the recognition that myth is not a relic of the past but a dynamic force in the present—especially within the realm of popular fiction. It brings together scholars from diverse disciplinary backgrounds—literature, cultural studies, religious studies, media studies, and more—to analyze how myth and popular fiction intersect. Each contribution examines a specific aspect of this intersection, whether through textual analysis, theoretical inquiry, or cultural critique. Together, they shed light on the enduring relevance of myth in contemporary storytelling and its complex role in shaping public consciousness. It is hoped that this book serves as a resource for students, scholars, and general readers interested in mythology, literature, and cultural studies.
