About the book

Narrating Authority: Gender, Power, and Social Norms in Life Writing and Children's Stories explores how narratives shape and challenge authority across personal and cultural domains. Bringing together chapters on autobiographies, memoirs, and children's literature, the volume examines how gendered voices negotiate power, self-representation, and social expectations. It highlights the ways in which life writing contests silences, while children's stories both reinforce and resist dominant ideologies. Interdisciplinary in scope, this collection offers fresh insights into the intersections of narrative, authority, and identity, making it valuable for scholars of literature, gender studies, and cultural studies.
