About the book

In the current Anthropocene era, human beings live precarious lives which results from precarious environments and people. Precarious lives refer to the uncertain and unstable lives humanity is going through now. In recent years, there has been a flurry of literary texts, especially speculative fiction, dealing with Anthropogenic climate change and its effects on humans in such a way that many critics vaguely hope that literature may save the planet. This proposed volume explores the literary representation of (eco)precarious lives mainly due to Anthropogenic climate change and neoliberal capitalist development. The volume focuses on contemporary climate fiction from worldwide and tries to consider the Anthropogenic precarious lives on a planetary scale, barring aside the division between Global North and Global South. Some of the key topics the book explores include ecoprecarity, industrial disaster, eco-refugees, planetary crisis, climate resilience, ecocide-genocide nexus, neoliberal extractivism, environmental racism, etc. About the Editors Dr. Dipti Ranjan Maharana is currently serving as Associate Professor in the Department of English and Director, Students’ Welfare at Ravenshaw University.
