Poems at Work

These poems draw upon multiple images of dream-like faces, icons of the past and the present, ages and stages of a life lived with sensitivity. They show the poet creating his favoured states of emotional belonging and seeking philosophical sustenance through them. The archetypes of essential human conditions are personalised and expressed in an idiom that is conversational, and a diction that draws its strength in a dialogic relationship. It is a method of sharing and of belonging, as also of retreat and refusal which all curious selves aspire to achieve. Drawing upon a calendar of familiar images, these poems charge the counters of poetic expression as experience, and the bits of experience as the yields of poetic creativity. – Anisur Rahman
