Social Group Work, one of the primary methods of Social Work, is given least importance in terms of practice in India; however by nature, human beings live in groups such as family, peer, school, workplace, etc., In addition to that nowadays people increasingly participate in online communities via Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other platforms. Therefore it is essential to signify the Social Group Work method to be put into meticulous practice and hence this book. This volume covers the basic essence of social groups, theories, group work models, principles, tools, field work, practicing settings, role & skill of group worker, scope and Group Work practice with virtual groups. Each chapter is carefully designed to make the learner easy to practice social group work in various settings through developing skills and training. Virtual group work is a novel attempt to align with the recent proliferation of social-media virtual groups. About the Authors DR.A.THOMAS WILLIAM is an Associate Professor, Dean Academic (Former) & UGC Post Doctoral Research Awardee in Research & Post Graduate Department of Rural Development Science, Arul Anandar College (Autonomous), Karumathur, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Dr. Williams successfully completed UGC research award with Dept. of Applied Research, Gandhigram University, Dindigul, Karumathur, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Dr. S. Benjamin Franklin is an accomplished academic and researcher with a Ph.D. in Social Work, complemented by a diverse educational background in English Literature and Community Development. Currently he is serving as an Associate Professor and Head of the Social Work Department at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (DU) in Chennai, India.
