About the book
"Tea Garden Workers and Their Plight" explores a pressing and significant subject for contemporary discourse. This book provides a unique perspective on the lives of tea garden workers in the Darjeeling and Dooars regions of West Bengal, particularly focusing on their social and economic realities. Despite being integral to the tea industry's success, these workers are grossly underpaid relative to their immense contribution to profits. By undertaking research on tea garden labour in North Bengal, we can gain deeper insights into labour relations, which in turn can enhance labour productivity within the tea industry. By establishing healthier labour-management relationships, we can reduce instances of industrial unrest and foster positive change. If the tea industry in the Darjeeling Hills and Dooars sustains such efforts, it can maintain profitability and effectively compete in the global market while safeguarding the welfare of its workers.
