About the book

This research book on the works of three Nobel laureates of literature spanning twentieth and twenty first centuries and representing three multicultural societies is an admirable attempt which makes it unique and attractive. Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) the first non-European and Asian to win Nobel Prize for literature was a versatile genius--a poet, short story writer, playwright, novelist, essayist, musician, painter, philosopher, educationalist, actor, producer, etc. Toni Morrison (Born in 1931) is one of most hailed and studied writers of the present world and she has been a major architect in creating a literary language for Afro-Americans. Alice Munro (Born in 1931) who won the Nobel Prize recently in 2013 is the great short story writer from Ontario, Canada. There are innumerable research books on Tagore, Morrison and Munro, but this three-in-one attempt has never been done before by any author or editor. Therein lies the relevance and importance of this book in the area of criticism. There are eight research articles on Tagore in this book covering almost all aspects and themes of his poetry, novels, plays and short stories. Eleven research papers are there on Morrison and her novels. On Alice Munro’s works there are four research papers. The articles have been authored by reputed writers who are university/college professors, research scholars and professional writers.
