Rabindranath Tagore

The present book Rabindranath Tagore: A Patriot With A Difference is an adequate manifestation of Tagore's patriotic activities. The general trend in Indian politics and among Tagore's biographers has been to ignore the intense and spiritual patriotism of Tagore, or at least not to address it adequately. The present book brings out with numerous instances from the life and literature as well as various day to day activities of Tagore how intensely was Tagore involved into India's early attainment of freedom. The freedom did come, but only after Tagore had died six years earlier on August 7, 1941. The book has been written in simple English, in a racy and lucid style to enable the readers to comprehend Tagore's life, literature and his efforts in the freedom movement right from the early 19th century till his death in 1941. Like the author's other books, this book on Tagore will also find favour with the readers who will surely enjoy reading the aspect of patriotism of Tagore which had not been properly addressed so far. It is author's sincere hope that the amount of research, the author has put in the production of this book, it will find favour with teachers, researchers and lovers of Tagore in general public not only in Bengal, but in the rest of India.
