About the book

In a world still navigating exclusion and stereotypes, Reimagining Disability: From Stigma to Empowerment emerges as a compelling collection of reflections and research by budding social work scholars. Drawing from real-life experiences, grassroots engagement, and critical academic inquiry, this volume sheds light on the realities of persons with disabilities in contemporary India. Authored by undergraduate students from Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous), Idukki, Kerala, the book explores diverse themes—ranging from media representation, disability rights awareness, and inclusive education, to healthcare accessibility, technological empowerment, and the transformative role of social workers. Through case studies, surveys, policy analyses, and field narratives, the book challenges societal stigma and champions a rights-based, inclusive approach to disability. This volume is not just a scholarly work—it’s a call to action. Aimed at students, educators, activists, and practitioners, it redefines disability as a space of strength, dignity, and social justice.
